UNLV Dancing Again
The UNLV Men’s basketball team has been extended an invitation to the NCAA tournament. Although some considered them a shoe in, most of the UNLV players are not ashamed to admit they were a little nervous watching the CBS tournament selection show. With a record of 25-8 they were one of four Mountain West Conference schools earning a bid and they start of as an 8-seed in the Midwest Region.
UNLV will face a difficult opponent Thursday when they go up against the #9 seed Northern Iowa who finished the year with a dominating record of 28-4. The winner of this matchup will face the winner of Kansas and Lehigh. Kansas is the overall #1 team in the tournament and the favorite among most. This is the first at large bid since 2000 for the Rebels and the third appearance in four years for the ball club.
Sunday was the annual basketball awards banquet for the UNLV Men’s basketball team and afterward they watched the selection show. The celebration was quick for the team immediately got to film preparation to start scouting Northern Iowa. Although in a weaker conference, Northern Iowa finished the season with and RPI of 17 and will be a difficult match up. To read more go to the Las Vegas Sun
